5 Colors That Go With Gold

Brook & Branch 14K Gold Worn with Lavendar
In the spirit of the Summer Olympics, we encourage you to go for the gold and wear colors that best highlight its precious-metal qualities.

Some ladies choose their outfit and then their jewelry, but at Brook & Branch we do things differently. We first select our jewelry and then decide on the perfect outfit to showcase our timeless, yet modern, designs. But how do we know what color compliments gold jewelry? It’s as simple as understanding color relationships and color harmony. Use this color wheel to visualize color relationships.

Not all gold can be worn equally. Warm gold tones are deeper and have more red, yellow, and orange undertones, reminding us of sun or fire. Cool gold tones are lighter and have more blue, green, and purple undertones, reminding us of water or trees.

Brook & Branch jewelry designs are made with 14K gold, offering a cool undertone which is appropriate and purposeful for our brand - Brook (water) & and Branch (trees).

What colors go with gold? Here are our Brook & Branch favorites:

1. Black
As cliche as it seems, black goes with everything and pairing it with 14K gold jewelry is no exception. When you wear black, it acts as a backdrop, giving your jewelry the freedom to make a statement.

2. White
White comes in many different hues and temperatures. When pairing cool-toned gold jewelry with white, be sure that the white also has a cool undertone. Look for a crisp white or whites with a blue or green hue. Your sophisticated white clothing will subtly showcase your jewelry so your outfit looks put together, effortlessly.

3. Blue
Blue is the most complementary color to gold, meaning they are on opposite sides of the color wheel and have complete color harmony. Blue and gold will bring out the best in each other and let each other shine. If you want your jewelry and your outfit to be equally prominent, then this is a perfect combination.

Go glam by pairing navy, sapphire blue or royal blue with your gold jewelry, or make a softer statement with a powder blue. You also have the freedom to choose cooler blue colors (more green undertones) by wearing aqua and turquoise as lush companions for gold.

4. Green
Green is a beautiful color to pair with 14K gold, but be careful not to choose a green with a warm (yellow) undertone. Safe greens are aquamarine, Emerald, and a jewel-toned green. As you get into the warmer greens, they tend to have yellow undertones which can fight with the cool tone of the Brook & Branch gold.

5. Purple
We love the versatility of purple colors that pair well with 14K gold such as a light lavender, a rich purple, and every purple tone in between. Unlike green, you have more wiggle room with your purples because as purple turns warm, it has a pink undertone which also looks pretty with 14K gold. Furthermore, lavender is the color of the year and we offer 14K gold jewelry designs with lavender chalcedony stones.

Offering a timeless look of sophistication with a touch of glam, it’s no wonder gold is a popular choice for jewelry. If it’s worn with harmonious colors, it (and you) are unstoppable. Go for the gold!
